Here we have a particularly nicely executed 2" scale Ruston Proctor traction engine. The model has won multiple awards and accolades for it's builder M.D. Goodall, including a Gold medal at the Model Engineering Exhibition, so it can legitimately be called an 'exhibition quality' model. It's a rare model as well, we've certainly not seen another completed one, although there have been a couple that we've spotted changing hands in the past as projects.
The boiler is silver soldered copper and we think it's had a test fire in it to make sure all's well, but it's possible that it was just a sooty flame on a gas burner rather than a proper coal fire as there's no trace of coal ash or soot anywhere. But it's essentially brand new and been on display in it's own perspex display case since completion.
Fitted with an injector and a mechanical crank shaft pump and bypass lever, lubrication is mechanical as usual and the water lifter is functional as you'd expect. This is a particularly well executed model of a rarely modelled prototype, and it would certainly not disappoint any discerning collection.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
